The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
